what we do in a day

the days go by so quickly! at the end of the day as i rest my head on the pillow i often wonder "what did we do today?" so much of my day is full of nursing and cuddling, singing and reading, playing and "talking" and whatever else we can manage. the cleaning and laundry get done slowly here and there. as hard as it is to feel like i'm constantly drowning in a to-do list of projects and messes, my days right now are spent the best way i can... adoring my little lady.

our typical day looks a little something like this:

we wake up for an early morning feeding between 5am-6am, then maybe fall back asleep again until 7am-8am. we send craig off to work and baby g and i cuddle and "talk" in bed. if we don't have to be somewhere in the mornings, we take the day very slow and lazy. and we both love it!

while daddy is busy flying helicopters and being a soldier we are busy playing and sleeping and eating.

baby loves to stare at herself in the mirror. she gets very serious about it. she cracks a smile at herself and blows bubbles.

then, when she's done she's done. (this goes for anything with her. she is happy and content but when she's done, she's done quick. craig and i were talking about this the other day and i mentioned how she is like him in the sense that she is happy and calm most of the time and then she's like me because when she's done, she's done and her mood changes fast.) she gets fussy and i cuddle her up and love on her.

fussiness now usually means she's ready for some milk and a little morning cat nap. if she doesn't fall asleep while she's nursing then we walk around the house and sing quiet songs until she falls asleep. once she's asleep and her body gets heavy i lay her in the swing. she sleeps just long enough for me to hop in for a quick shower or unload the dishwasher. then she's up and ready to play.

we sing songs and get smiles. lots of smiles. and of course i have to capture as many as i can. i think she is so stinkin' cute so i can never get sick of pictures of her.

sometimes we're lucky enough to see the mr. home for lunch. gracie loves time with her daddy!

other than cuddling with daddy, her favorite way to spend her day is drinking milk. pretty sure she would nurse all day long if i let her. i do feed on demand, so whenever she's hungry, i feed her. and i love that quality time with her too.

we read a few books and sing some more songs and then she's ready to take an afternoon nap. she sleeps great if i put her in the ergo and she can cuddle right up against me. although, she isn't always in the mood for it so it just depends.

and of course, more milk and more play! she is not really into holding the toys yet but she'll reach up and grab them for a second. she loves laying on her play mat and staring at the toys and she also loves staring at the little mirror i attached to the top of the arch.

then we're both happy girls when daddy comes home! we have dinner, more play time, sometimes she goes on little dates to the grocery store with daddy and i shower. she loves bath nights and loves staring at herself in the mirror while daddy washes her hair.

she loves the warm water, it makes her sleepy and the yawns begin. her little yawns are so sweet! we finish off the day with more milk and cuddle time and then she's happy with a full belly and peacefully asleep.

i can't say it enough, i love being her mommy. my days are full of her, and that is just the way i love them to be!
